We are currently learning the relationships between fractions, decimals, and percentages.
While changing groups in the class for the month of November, each group had to chose a Francophone country to represent their group. A Francophone country has French as one of its official languages. Each group is currently doing research on a country to better understand its geographical, political, cultural, economic, and other factors that influence its identity and its issues. The students will later explore how various factors can cause conflict among peoples and governments. They will also compare their Francophone country to our own Francophone country, Canada.
The students had learnt that there are 29 countries that have French as one of its official languages. They had learnt that knowing the French language helps to open up doors for career opportunities in Canada, as well in other Francophone countries. Knowing French will also help with learning the Spanish language, if they wish to learn it in high school. Knowing more languages than just French and English is even more beneficial. BIG IDEA
Economic self-interest can be a significant cause of conflict among peoples and governments. Some links and information will be added later on for students to be able to access . BIG IDEA
Media sources can both positively and negatively affect our understanding of important events and issues. Some links and information will be added below for students to be able to access again. The class will soon view/listen to this videoclip together. Students are encouraged to view/listen to it on their own, again, in order to practise their listening/comprehension skills. It will take time to understand with the French accent, the intonation, and the speed at which the speakers are talking. http://www.europe1.fr/medias-tele/jusqua-quel-point-les-medias-influencent-ils-les-decisions-de-justice-2666915 BIG IDEA
